The Rotary Club’s annual Classic Car Rally – this year in aid of Cancer Research.

The rally enjoyed excellent support – with over 30 cars setting off from Totties Garden Centre after a tasty cuppa and bacon roll.

The 40 miles route took us on a very pretty tour over the Strines, via Lower Bradfield, Bolsterstones and Deepcar ending with a fascinating tour of the Wortley Top Forge Museum.

This museum traces the early roots of steel making in the British Isles, with preserved early technology and examples of machinery used at the very start of the Industrial Revolution.

The equipment on display demonstrates the depth of engineering capability within the local area that fuelled mass production.

The museum is open every Sunday, plus Bank Holidays – very much worth a visit. Children are well provided for – with a miniature railway and personalized guides.
